ABOUT MICHELLE

Michelle Eden Humphrey is a costume designer based in New York City. Michelle has been designing costumes for theatrical productions, high-profile celebrities, advertising companies, corporate events & private parties for many years. While she was the resident costume designer for The Sharon Playhouse she designed over 20 productions. Michelle is currently the Director of costumes for the Vocal Performance Department at New York University Steinhardt and has been creating, designing & teaching costumes for NYU since 2003.

She has designed hundreds of musicals throughout her career. Some of her NYC work includes: Fluffy the Pine (Producers Club), Sweet Smell of Success, King David, (Skirball Center for the Performing Arts), Bloodsong of Love, Joe Iconis Christmas Spectacular (54 Below & Ars Nova) Fantasy Artist (La MaMa Theater), Miss Kim (45th St Theater), The Bus (59E59), Dally with the Devil (Theater Row), Ghostlight (NYMF Signature Theater), Caesar and Cleopatra (Theatre Row), ReWrite (Urban Stages), Things to Ruin (Le Poisson Rouge, Second Stage & The Zipper Factory), The Black Suits (SPF The Public Theater) Regional: Academy (Maltz Jupiter Theater, NYMF TBG Theater and Daegu International Musical Festival in Korea) Oklahoma (Ohio Northern University) A Wonderful Life, Damn Yankees (John Engeman Theater).

Stylist: Star Jones, American Heart Association Campaign (Charles & Jennifer Maring photographers), Jesus Christ Superstar and Big Apple Circus web video, International Auto Show web series After Dark 2011, Radio City Christmas web-video 2010 (Situation Marketing), NJPAC performance and music video of Badia Farah’s Heaven. Assistant Costume Designer on the film Una Calle sin Salida (LMF Productions).

Michelle worked in the wardrobe department at Cedar Fair Entertainment Company’s Knott’s Berry Farm for several years. She costumed special performances by Tales from the Crypt and Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. She has worked with celebrities such as Madonna, Prince, Cher, Star Jones and Sha NaNa to name a few.
